People can now have their say on proposals to provide better bus, cycling and walking journeys along Histon Road.

A public consultation on the plans for Histon Road – which include an extended inbound bus lane, ‘floating bus stops’ and improved cycle lanes, which will be segregated from vehicles where possible – begins today (Monday 21 May).

The £6m project aims to encourage more people to use alternative sustainable modes of transport in order to reduce congestion and improve air quality.

People can share their views on the proposals via an online survey or a paper questionnaire which will be posted to about 15,500 homes in the area.

The partnership is also hosting three public events where people can talk to project officers and provide their feedback on the proposed scheme.

The events will held on the following dates:

  • Wednesday 30 May - St Andrew’s Centre, School Hill, Histon. 4-7pm.
  • Wednesday 13 June - St Augustine’s Church and Hall, Richmond Road, Cambridge. 4-7pm.
  • Tuesday 19 June - Chesterton Community College, Gilbert Road, Cambridge. 5-8pm.

The findings will be put before members of the Joint Assembly and Executive Board in the winter for determination.

The public consultation runs between 21 May and 2 July. For more information visit
