Work on the Linton Greenway has resumed to enhance active travel journeys as part of phase one of the Greater Cambridge Partnership’s Cambridge South East Transport project.

The work – which restarted this month – includes the widening and resurfacing of the existing active travel paths along the A1307 between Hinton Way and the Babraham Road Park and Ride. It will also see improvements made to signage, road markings and pedestrian crossings in the area.

Temporary two-way traffic lights will be in operation during off-peak hours where required, and road closures with signed diversions will be in place during the resurfacing of the existing carriageway at the Hinton Way roundabout and Babraham Road P&R crossing.

It follows a year of delivery by the GCP to enhance road safety, walking, cycling and bus priority measures along the A1307 between Haverhill and Cambridge as part of phase one of the Cambridge South East Transport project.

This includes upgrades and safety improvements between the end of the A1307 dual carriageway at Magog Farm Barns to the Copley Hill Business Park last summer.

The GCP installed variable speed cameras from Linton to Horseheath and delivered improvements on the A1307 Granham’s Road junction, with a new dedicated right-turn lane and improved visibility for road users.

Work to upgrade the Linton Greenway along the A1307 between Addenbrooke's Hospital and Granham's Road was completed last year.

Cllr Elisa Meschini, Chair of the GCP’s Executive Board, said:

“I am delighted to see the progress we have been making to deliver safer and better journeys for hundreds of cyclists, pedestrians and motorists along the A1307 every day, and I look forward to seeing further improvements being made with this latest work.”
