The greenway will make it safer and easier to reach Bottisham Village College, the new Marleigh development, Newmarket Road park and ride, Fen Ditton Primary School, shops and enjoy the River Cam on Ditton Meadows, Stourbridge Common and Riverside.
Following the A1303 to Stow-Cum-Quy from Bottisham, it passes under the A14 near Quy Mill. It follows the A1303 then through the Marleigh development to Fen Ditton and onto paths through Ditton Meadows, Stourbridge Common and to Riverside.
Riverside consultation
Our consultation is now live and we want to hear your views on proposals to improve Riverside in Cambridge as part of the Bottisham Greenway. These improvements aim to make this section easier to use, more inclusive and welcoming for everyone.
The consultation will run from Tuesday 2 June to Monday 13 July.
Overall, our proposals aim to create a safer, more accessible and enjoyable through route to the city and its surrounding areas. This includes:
- Wider, more consistent footways for people walking and wheeling
- Clearer signage and installation of pedestrian crossings to support wayfinding and help slow down vehicles and bikes.
- Safe and secure cycle parking along the route to encourage sustainable travel.
- Resting places with planting and accessible seating for wheelchair users, people with pushchairs and others.
Where we are
Ahead of construction starting in late 2026 early 2027 (subject to planning permission), our focus over the next couple of months is on investigating and developing plans to ensure we protect wildlife and the environment while delivering the best possible transport links for anyone using this route in the future.
We are now in the final stages of reviewing the designs and are liaising with local landowners to secure relevant permissions. Our next step will be to submit planning permission for the whole route.
How we got here
We first consulted on the route in autumn 2019 with further engagement on our updated plans in spring 2023.
Our board agreed to proceed in June 2023 after agreeing some further tweaks.
