Cambridge will play host to the UK's national active travel event - Active County Cambridgeshire 2026 - on 13-14 July, with the city welcoming up to 500 industry professionals to explore innovative ways of creating active, vibrant and healthy places.

GCP's pioneering projects, including the UK's first cycling street at Adams Road and the award-winning Milton Road scheme, will be a core part of the conference, which includes free guided walks and cycle rides.

Daniel Clarke, Head of Innovation at the GCP, will be leading a walking tour and will also be on a speaker panel talking about Cambridge's innovative approach to traffic sensors and how that data is being used to improve Cambridge's transport network.

Paul van de Bulk, GCP Senior Project Manager, will be leading a cycling tour of Milton Road, highlighting the GCP's scheme to improve active travel by installing Copenhagen crossings, continuous cycleways, bus stops bypasses, rain gardens, around 200 new trees, and cycle-priority junctions including Cambridge's second CYCLOPS junction.

The conference takes place at the Ray Dolby Centre at West Hub and across the city - with a wide range of walks, site visits and cycling tours on offer - some open to the public as well as to conference delegates.
