GCP recognised as a rising star for innovation
The Smart Cambridge team have been recognised for their excellence in creating innovative approaches to procurement by being nominated for a rising star award at the Startup Ecosystem Stars Awards 2024.
The SES Awards, organised by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and Mind the Bridge, celebrate organisations driving innovation and fostering ecosystems that promote societal progress. This recognition highlights the GCP's commitment to innovation and collaboration in transforming Cambridge’s transport network.
The ceremony was held on 4 December in Paris. The awards were in collaboration with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development and the European Commission, and also received support from Microsoft.
Daniel Clarke, Head of innovation, explains:
"Recognition with an SES Rising Star Award nomination acknowledges how we’re pushing boundaries with our work on autonomous buses. The GCP has embraced innovative procurement practices to advance our work in this area to form part of the public transport system.
“Delivering a complex project like this with multiple partners has required us to rethink how we approach procurement. To make this a reality we’re finding new and innovative ways to bring together the right suppliers and partners and exploring new ways of buying products and services. It’s exciting to see these efforts acknowledged, and we’re looking forward to what’s next as we continue building smarter, sustainable transport for Cambridge.
"We’re proud to be recognised for breaking new ground in innovation and look forward to continuing our work to make Greater Cambridge a world leader in sustainable and smart transport solutions".
