Published 26 March 2026

Welcome to our March 2026 newsletter

We're bringing you the latest updates from across the greenways so you can learn about the improvements happening near you and when works might take place.

In this month’s issue you can find out more about:

  • The progress of works on Adams Road
  • The progress of works in Coton
  • Final works in Barton
  • Upcoming works in Shepreth

Comberton Greenway

Adams Road March 2026

Adams Road

Works have been progressing well on Adams Road. Kerb removal and excavation on the northern side of Adams Road between Sylvester Road and Grange Road has been completed, rain gardens and drainage have also been added to this section. We are now moving onto the installation of new kerb lines over the coming weeks. We have also started work to upgrade the existing signalised junction of Grange Road and Adams Road. During these works temporary traffic lights will be in place to minimise disruption.

We would like to thank the residents of Adams Road for their patience while construction continues.

Coton March 2026

Coton village

White lining has been completed in the village including the addition of cycle symbols to The Footpath along with high friction surfacing. Planting has also been completed at The Plough pub and Cambridge Road junction. The final street lighting columns will be installed at the end of March. A 20mph speed limit will be added later this year

We would like to thank Coton residents for their patience while construction continues.

Barton Greenway

Barton village 2026

Barton village

At the end of March our contractors will complete the new parallel crossing at Burwash Manor along with installing a new streetlight at the bus stop next to Kings Grove. The last of the white lining will also be added to New Road and Comberton Road. Temporary traffic lights will be in place during these works. Play logs will be installed near the Conkers village shop in April.

We would like to thank Barton residents for their patience while construction continues.

Melbourne Greenway

Shepreth spur

Work on the Shepreth section of the Melbourn Greenway is expected to begin in late spring, subject to final agreements.

The scheme, part of the Melbourn Greenway, is focused on providing a safer environment in Shepreth for walking and cycling in the village. New and more accessible crossing points will be introduced along Fowlmere Road, including a crossing outside Shepreth Village Hall and raised tables at the junction of Meldreth Road and on Fowlmere Road, which will provide safer crossing for pedestrians and cyclists.

To improve safety throughout the village, double yellow lines will be added along Station Road. The speed limit will also be reduced to 20mph starting at the Barrons Green and Fowlmere Road junction through to the railway station. Further traffic‑calming measures, such as speed humps and a 30mph limit will also be added to Fowlmere Road from Barrons Green to the A10 to ensure compliance with the speed limit.

Street lighting throughout Shepreth will be upgraded to make travel safer for all.

The site compound is planned to be located at Pretty Corner, between the War Memorial and Docwra’s Meadow. Access will still be maintained to properties on Meldreth Road.

Some temporary road closures and diversions will be required to complete the works safely. We will update residents when we have further information on these.
