We first went out for a full consultation on the Bottisham Greenway in autumn 2019. The outcomes of the consultation were reflected in design, before going out for public engagement in spring 2023. Following this our June 2023 Executive Board meeting agreed to progress the route. 

Throughout design we have worked with local councillors and affected stakeholders. 

The Bottisham Greenway is 10.6km long. It would start in Bottisham and proceed along the A1303 then continue past Stow cum-Quy where it would link up with the Swaffham Greenway. 

Ahead of construction starting in late 2026 (subject to planning permission), our focus over the next couple of months is on investigating and developing plans to ensure we protect wildlife and the environment while delivering the best possible transport links for anyone using this route in the future.   

We are now in the final stages of reviewing the designs and are liaising with local landowners to secure relevant permissions. Our next step will be to submit planning permission for the whole route. 

The Bottisham Greenway will make it safer and easier to reach Bottisham Village College, the new Marleigh development, Newmarket Road park and ride, Fen Ditton Primary School, shops and enjoy the River Cam on Ditton Meadows, Stourbridge Common and Riverside.  

The Bottisham Greenway will follow the A1303 to Stow-Cum-Quy from Bottisham, it passes under the A14 near Quy Mill. It follows the A1303 then through the Marleigh development to Fen Ditton and onto paths through Ditton Meadows, Stourbridge Common and to Riverside.   

All of our greenways routes will have signage and wayfinding, which will help people who are not familiar with the route.

We are still assessing lighting options with our designers. We will be upgrading the lighting in the A14 underpass between Cambridge and Stow cum Quy to improve safety.
