- Which greenways will be discussed at our next joint assembly meeting
Comberton Greenway

Adams Road is open for use, as work to transform it into England’s first cycle street continues. The route provides a vital connection between Cambridge West and the city centre for commuters and students. Currently used by up to 3,000 cyclists a day, usage is expected to increase with development taking place nearby.
Red surfacing has been added to the road, and the installation of street lighting along the path is complete. Further works will follow, including lining and the addition of cycle street signs. Some of these activities may require temporary road closures. If closures are needed, we will provide updates in advance.
We would like to thank the residents and users of Adams Road for their patience during construction.
Melbourn Greenway
Works on the Shepreth section of Melbourn Greenway began on in May. Angle Lane and Fowlmere Road will be resurfaced, with new markings added as part of this first phase of works.
Starting June 1, Station Road, Shepreth is closed to vehicles at the level crossing, preventing vehicle access to and from Barrington Road for approximately three weeks. The closure is required for safety due to the proximity of works to the level crossing. Access to the station, local businesses (including Shepreth Wildlife Park) and Docwra’s Close will be managed under temporary traffic lights.
The Shepreth spur will include:
- A new crossing outside Shepreth village hall.
- New raised tables on Fowlmere Road at the junctions with Meldreth Road, Angle Lane and Barron’s Green.
- The addition of double yellow lines along Station Road.
- Introduction of a 20mph speed limit starting at the Barron’s Green and Fowlmere Road junction through to the railway station.
- Traffic calming measures, including speed humps and a 30mph limit added on Fowlmere Road between Barron’s Green and the A10.
- Street lighting throughout Shepreth will also be upgraded.
