Milton Road area resident parking scheme

We’re working with Cambridgeshire County Council and our contractor M Group to install the scheme. Works began at the end of October.

What’s Happening?

Updated: Friday 5 December 2025

Arbury Road overnight closure
A section of Arbury Road will be closed for line painting, from the junction at Milton Road to Cambridge North Academy Wednesday 17-Friday 19 December, 8pm-6am (see closure and diversion map below).

Parking will not be permitted during the closure. Access will be maintained, and a diversion will be signposted.

Final lining work
Lining on Chestnut Grove, George Street, Herbert Street and Springfield Road will take place Monday 15-Tuesday 16 December, 8am–6pm, under temporary mobile traffic management.

 Additional information

  • The Ascham scheme signage will be updated in January.
  • Cambridgeshire County Council will complete repairs and fill in potholes works while the scheme is installed.
  • The new lining and signage are not enforceable until the scheme officially goes live in the new year.

We will provide another update once these works are complete.

What's next?

Cambridgeshire County Council will share details of the scheme and how to apply for permits ahead of it going live early next year.

Once the residents’ parking scheme is in place, we will carry out a six-month review to assess the impact it has had. Parking surveys will be carried out before the scheme is implemented and again six months after installation for comparison.

There’ll be analysis of traffic flow and road capacity. Feedback from residents, businesses and other stakeholders will be carefully reviewed and compiled into a report to be discussed with local members and presented to the relevant committee with any necessary recommendations.
