Cambridge South West Travel Hub: about

A new travel hub located off the M11 junction 11

The project will deliver:

  • A key interchange in the Greater Cambridge public transport and cycle network connecting routes near major employment, education, services centres and the city centre
  • A 2150 space travel hub
  • A new footbridge over the M11
  • Compliment the Trumpington park&ride by relieving current transport pressures

What will the travel hub look like?

CSWTH Visualisation

The travel hub will have two entrances – one connecting to the M11 bridge and one on the A10 which will undergo road widening including Hauxton Road and Junction11 North bound slip road

The proposed travel hub will include:

  • Building with toilets and indoor seating
  • Shelters with outdoor seating
  • 2150 car parking spaces including solar panels
  • 326 cycle parking and horse parking

The Trumpington park&ride is currently at capacity with surrounding transport infrastructure insufficiently able to cater for planned future growth of housing and employment the area.

In 2018, we consulted on two options: expanding the Trumpington park&ridesite to 2,560 spaces via a multi-storey carpark or building the Cambridge South West Travel Hub. The board decided to move forward with the Travel Hub and add 274 spaces to the Trumpington park&ride.
